Google Wallet, the company’s mobile payment service, is coming to more Fitbits and 12 more countries. The app will be available on the Fitbit app store and on Google Play in the coming weeks. Google Wallet allows users to pay for goods and services with their phones by scanning a barcode. The app has been available in the United States since 2011 and has been growing in popularity around the world. “We’re excited to bring Google Wallet to more Fitbits and expand its reach across countries,” said James Park, CEO of Fitbit. “Our customers love being able to use our devices to pay for things without having to carry cash or a card.” The addition of Google Wallet means that users can pay for items at participating stores using their Fitbit devices, as well as online at websites that accept Google Wallet payments. ..

Google rebranded its Google Pay contactless payments app into Google Wallet, now encompassing several things, including loyalty passes, digital keys and, of course, credit and debit cards. Now, Wallet is becoming available in 12 more countries.

The Wallet rebrand is landing in a handful of new countries, bringing the total up to 57 countries. The service is now arriving for users in Argentina, Cyprus, Georgia, Kyrgyztan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Malaysia, Mexico, Slovenia, Thailand, and Vietnam. Some of these counties were using the previous version of Google Pay, while others are adding support for Google’s contactless payments app for the very first time.

Not only can you use Wallet in more countries, but also, you can now install it on more devices. Google has made its payments app available on a handful of Fitbit devices — more specifically, the Fitbit Sense 2 and Versa 4. This means that you can now add your cards and pay in stores with a tap of your wrist, just like you currently can on watches like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5. With Fitbit being Google-owned, it’s good to see the company give some love to its non-Wear OS devices.

If you have a Fitbit Sense 2 or a Fitbit Versa 4 and you happen to live in one of the 57 countries Wallet is supported in, including the 12 new ones, you’ll soon be able to get paying.
